His research focuses on Type 2 diabetes and the mechanisms of insulin resistance. He is the author of From Prison Cells to PhD: It is Never Too Late to Do Good and directs an outreach program that helps formerly incarcerated individuals pursue college education.

But I am also a doctor, a scientist, an MBA holder, a newlywed husband, a son to an aging mother, a community organizer, an institutional leader, a youth mentor, a published author, and many other things. Eliminating me before you know all of these other great things is an injustice to society.”

RECAPPING LAST YEAR'S EVENT

2nd Annual Reentry United Conference 2023

Through funding and professional support from Michigan Works! West Central and the Michigan Department of Corrections Region 4 OS Reentry Program Reentry United Conference was launched in 2022 and continues annually.

The goal of the Reentry United Conference is to gather the Solutionaries annually for Networking, Equipping, Inspiration, and Solution Based Conversations at our Reentry United Conference. Our recent conference featured keynote speaker MDOC Director Washington, drawing a sold-out crowd of 270 attendees. State Representative Amos O'Neal shared valuable insights on reentry, alongside inspiring stories from successful formerly incarcerated individuals. Guests enjoyed entertainment and learned about the parole process, fostering connections for a brighter future beyond bars.

"2nd Annual Reentry United Conference was nothing short of amazing! Thank you to everyone who joined us."
